Spark was founded by a team of volunteers with a dedication and passion for music, community building and social/environmental causes. The first music festival was held in Waterloo Park on Saturday September 25 2010. Known as “Spark in the Park” the festival garnered great reviews (see media section of website). In 2011 the board of directors focused on applying for grants. The organization was awarded grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the City of Waterloo. We are currently building the Spark team and planning for a 2012 festival and the continued growth of the organization.

Headlined by indie-rockers Zeus and soulful singer Kae Sun, also featuring emerging musicians and a Young Artist Showcase, Spark 2011 offered a diverse musical mix. At Just like our music, many diverse organizations can get involved. Act on your ‘Spark’ by getting involved with these groups or by forming new groups.
